KoLa Inc.
relief is in sight for storm water inflow

Why Stainless?

There is an ongoing problem of treating excessive storm water runoff. The problems and costs are associated with treating the extra inflow. Inflow can be stopped from entering sanitary sewers through the manhole cover and diverted to the storm sewers where it is supposed to go. The KoLa Manhole Insert will aid in eliminating runoff into the sanitary sewers as well as the rising sewage treament costs. By using stainless steel, we now have a device with a lip that will not wear away easily and cause the insert to fall into the manhole. This could create additional problems by blocking the sanitary sewer lines into and out of the manhole, or worse yet, cause down time at the treatment plant.

Features and Benefits

  • 304 Stainless steel is high strength and resistant to corrosion caused by sewer gases.
  • The KoLa Insert is light weight and easy to handle.
  • Vent holes located at the top of the sides vent the manhole without having to rely on a valve or any other mechanical device that could clog from all of the sediment that gathers at the bottom of the insert. Very little water, if any, will infiltrate the sewer system.
  • Each KoLa Insert comes with a stainless steel retaining cable attached to the underside which gives the end user the option of attaching the cable to the manhole.
  • The KoLa Insert can be individually stamped "Property of the City of ______" for ease of identification.
  • Keeps dirt and debris out of the manhole. It also aids in controlling manhole odor.
  • The KoLa Insert has tapered sides for ease of insertion and removal. This is a convenience when used in conjunction with manhole chimney type seals.

The KoLa Insert is made of 18 gauge 304 stainless steel with a closed cell neoprene gasket bonded under the lip. 304 stainless steel has been a very successful material because of its resistance to corrosion and its superior strength versus other materials. The stainless steel lip on the KoLa Insert will stand up to traffic and the sheer weight of the manhole cover which in turn virtually eliminates the possibility of the insert lip wearing away and causing an obstruction in the sanitary sewer line or down time at the treatment plant.
