Product Description
"PRO-21" Closed profile pipe is produced
by extruding an "I-Beam" type profile which is wrapped onto a circular mandrel
providing a continuous tube with a helical heat-welded seam. The result of this
process is a pipe of solid wall appearance from the inside and outside coupled with the
structural advantages of the "honey comb or I-beam" construction internal to the
pipe wall itself. The pipe meets ASTM F794 Closed Profile Pipe and ASTM F1803.
Features and Benefit
- Made of PVC, the entire product is immune to
the corrosive acid conditions that result from hydrogen sulfide gas generation in sanitary
sewer lines. It is not susceptible to electrolytic corrosion. It is resistant
to chemicals typically conveyed in sanitary sewers.
- By putting the structural rib on the inside both the
ID and OD are free of ribs. The relatively smooth outside diameter allows easy
fabrication of fittings, easy simple tapping with a saddle or Inserta-Tee type fitting and
manhole connections with "A-Loc" or other boot type manhole gaskets are
confidently made. There is reduced chance of separating joints by movement of a
trench box compared to external ribbed pipe.
- Air tight joints bring peace of mind to the
installing contractor and on-going financial savings to system owners. System
leakage rates of less than 10 gallons per inch of diameter per mile per day are possible
with the proper choice and testing of manholes and fittings. Zero leakage from the
pipeline itself is also possible with the four fined gasket design which is provided by
Diamond Plastics.
- Lighter weight than comparable size concrete
pipe, Diamond Plastics closed profile pipe is both easier to handle and reqires less
bedding for grade maintenance.
- Increased flow capacity allows downsizing of
pipe diameter or reduced slope compared to concrete pipe. Gravity flow applications
are designed with a Mannings n = 0.009 whereas pressure applications use a Hazen-Williams
C = 150. The smooth PVC surface makes pipe cleaning easy with routine hydro-cleaning
equipment.
- Flexible Strength is achieved with the
material-efficient internal rib construction. A minimum pipe stiffness of 46 psi is
sufficient for most applications - from the deepest sewer and drainage projects ( 40
+ feet deep ) to the shallowest irrigation ditch closings ( 2 to 5 feet deep )
